Join us for Rhythms of Africa, an interactive African drumming workshop exploring how rhythm, movement and shared musical experience can support wellbeing.
📅 Date & Time: Monday 6 July 2026 | 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
📍 Location: Salvation Army Geelong, 239 Malop St., Geelong VIC 3220
This is more than just playing drums. Rhythms of Africa is a group wellbeing experience that uses drumming, movement and singing to help people connect, focus, feel present, and have fun together.
The session is shaped around the group, so everyone can join in at their own pace — whether you’re completely new to drumming or already love music and movement. You don’t need any experience to take part. Just bring your energy, curiosity, and willingness to try something new.
🥁 Why drumming?
Group drumming has been widely recognised as a powerful tool for mental health and wellbeing. The steady rhythms, repetition and shared timing can help calm the nervous system, support focus, lift mood, and create a sense of connection with the people around you. Drumming gives people a simple, enjoyable way to be present in the moment while sharing an experience with others.
In this workshop, you’ll explore rhythm through drumming and movement in a way that is warm, engaging and easy to join. Led by experienced facilitators with a strong community focus, the session is designed to be inclusive, energising and accessible for everyone.
✨ Expect:
a hands-on African drumming experience
rhythm and movement in a relaxed group setting
a fun and welcoming session open to all experience levels
an opportunity to connect with others and experience wellbeing through music and culture
Whether you’re looking to try something new, meet other students, or simply enjoy a different kind of wellbeing workshop, Rhythms of Africa is a chance to step into the beat, connect with others, and experience the power of rhythm in community.
