Mend & Make: Beginner Hand Sewing Workshop

Mend & Make: Beginner Hand Sewing Workshop – A Free International Student Event

Got a shirt with a tear, pants with a hole, or a button that’s gone missing? Instead of throwing it away, learn how to fix it yourself!

📅 Date & Time: Thursday, 12th March 2026 | 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
📍 Location: Salvation Army Geelong, 239 Malop St., Geelong VIC 3220

Join us at The Lounge for a beginner-friendly hand sewing workshop where you’ll learn simple skills that can save your favourite clothes.

In this relaxed, hands-on session, we’ll teach you the basics of sewing, from threading a needle to mastering essential stitches like the running stitch, back stitch and slip stitch. You’ll also learn how to sew on a button, fix small tears, repair split seams, and try visible mending by adding creative patches to your clothes.

Bring along an item that needs fixing like a torn shirt, pants with holes, a missing button, or even unwanted clothes you’d like to turn into patch fabric. No experience needed, we’ll guide you step-by-step!

✨ Expect a fun, practical evening of learning new skills, repairing clothes, and connecting with others.

🥘 Drinks, dinner, and dessert will be provided.

This is a free international student event — beginners welcome!

The Lounge is a drop-in centre, and registrations help with catering.
